WIP - I'm Sorry

Have something coming, it was inspired by Akon - Sorry, Blame It On Me. I originally planned to have it be things I have been accused of doing and didn't feel I was responsible for, saying sorry in a roundabout way, kind like I am not, but this is what you want to hear. But after listening to the song I realize that sometimes we are sorry for things that are not our fault, things we had no control over, but still wish never happened. I was originally attempting to follow the flow of the song the kinda bounce from line to line he follows but then realized I could constrain myself, but the topic was too important for me to mince details for form over.

I'm sorry for all the things I said
All the names I called your "friend"
I'm sorry for kicking you out
Putting you back across the street from him

I'm sorry for being right
For not being with you every night
I'm sorry that we would fight
That you would look for comfort in his lies
I'm sorry that you finally got to see
That side he tried to hide

I'm sorry for where it all lead
I hated seeing you that sad
Everyday you just layed in bed
I hated seeing you in that place

And I can still remember your face
   like your fire being erased
because of bad decisions I made
how I wish I could have saved
could have just been there that day

There is more to write, more to say sorry for, but I am not sure if I should leave this as finished, maybe save saying sorry for the other things, in a different manner then attempting to cram it here. I guess I will have to see if it comes naturally or not.

Mirrors

The window to the soul
I remember looking in and wondering ...
from here, where do we go?

I remember looking in and falling
falling into you.

You took those words as sexual escapades
porn on composition paper
not realizing
I had never composed a poem like that before.

In a hall of a million doors you opened one that was very unique
You peaked something that others made mundane
You helped me seek out words that were close to describing what I wanted to make
What I wanted to share with you.

Yet as complex of a puzzle you were ...
it seems my subtlety was lost

I took a picture of a puddle in Sunset Park that day
There is something about distorted reflections
We are fractured in tightly held pieces
Refracting in different angles
and what you might have, is not what someone else necessarily sees.

We are the sum of all our parts and memories
Experiences we try to forget and hide
Experiences that show in weary eyes
The mirrors to our souls.
